Thompson Announces Federal Aviation Administration Grant for Bradford Regional Airport

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a $150,000 federal grant to the Bradford Regional Airport in McKean County, Pennsylvania.

“Access to the national air transportation system is an essential element in supporting our local economy,” said Thompson. “This federal investment will allow the airport to continue to provide safe and reliable transportation options to our community and the surrounding area.”

“The Bradford Regional Airport Authority is grateful for the continued support from Congressman Thompson. This grant funding will allow for the rehabilitation of an important element of our airfield infrastructure thereby providing a safe and well maintained facility for the flying public,” said Alicia Dankesreiter, Airport Manager, Bradford Regional Airport.

This project will fund milling and overlay to rehabilitate approximately 600 feet of existing Taxiway D pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.

Office holders like Thompson are "selectively conservative." That airport is pretty much a government service to the privileged few. It loses a ton of money every month and we the taxpayers end up covering the bills. Some planes have 2 or even 1 passenger. I speak the truth and my name ain't Ruth.

"the flying public".

It would be interesting to see the data on who this public is.

Why doesn't GT announce how many people actually use the airport.

I'm not saying this is a bad or stupid grant; I just don't know enough about it.

I've never spoken to or met anyone who has used the facilities there.

The Bradford Era had a report that they have nearly sold 150 tickets for the month. Based on my math the max number of passengers that can fly is 768/month. So right now they are filling 20% of their seats. And 20% of 8 is about 1.5 folks per flight
