George Bove, 80, of 257 Jackson Ave. Bradford, PA passed away, Friday, June 5, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at the Bradford Manor.

Born December 30, 1934 in Bradford, he was a son of the late George and Frances (DiNuzzo) Bove. He was a 1952 graduate of Bradford High School.

On August 17 1957 in St. Bernard Church he married Janet M (Quinn) Bove who died on January 18, 2007.

On December 2, 1957 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on December 1, 1959.

George was a member of St. Bernard Church. In 1983 he was awarded "Policeman of the Year" by the Exchange Club of Bradford.

Mr. Bove joined the Bradford City Police Department in May 1962 and was named chief in 1977. He retired from the City in 1982. He later worked as a security guard at Zippo Manufacturing retiring in 2007.

Surviving are four daughters, Kathleen (Steve) Belleville of Bradford, Karen (Gregg) Teribery, of Bradford, Kristine (Don) Shonts, of Cyclone, Karla Bove of Bradford, one brother, John Bove, of Bradford, two grandchildren, Jamie Teribery and Parker Shonts and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Kerry Bove, 3 sisters, Mary Louise Bove, Elizabet Wozniak and Frances Sweeney and one brother James Bove, two sister in laws. Patty Bove and Geraldine "Sis" Quinn.

Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday June 9, 2015 from 3-5pm & 7-9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main St., where a prayer service will be held at 12:30pm Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm in St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
