My name is Kate Kysor. I am the treasurer for the Port Area Ambulance Service.

We are in need of immediate financial support to remain open.

We are located in a small rural community.

We run approximately 600 calls a year. We are an ALS (advanced life support) as well as BLS (basic life support) service. We are 16 miles away from the closest hospital.

Ambulances are a vital need in this area. We need your financial support to remain open for the remaining 2015 year.
Any amount is appreciated greatly.

do a fund raiser.. Spaghetti dinner .. Dice run .. I understand the need for an ambulance but do something! if funds are needed don't ask people, they would rather pay ten dollars for a dinner plate so someone won't have to make supper. just saying..

Are you looking for volunteers or is this a paid department only?

If you only run 600 calls a year you have no business being ALS. You need to scale back to BLS. Then if you can't make ends meet ask for donations. Act your size. No amount of money will keep you going if your spending beyond your means. Many services in the region are BLS and a more than 16 miles from a hospital. They rely on Coudersport ALS. You need to review your finances. If you scale back to BLS and still cannot save money why would you try to stay ALS?

Completely agree with 8:44, not only is there Coudy Medics there is also Medic 16. It is time they get a new board in there. This was not an issue before becoming an ALS service or paying EMT-Bs to sit there all day waiting for a call to come in. Port Ambulance is poorly run now-a-days.
