SERVICES AVAILABLE TO OLDER ADULTS

SERVICES AVAILABLE TO OLDER ADULTS

Potter County Human Services Area Agency on Aging (PCAAA) currently has some openings in the Caregiver Support Program and is seeking individuals who may be interested in this service.

The Caregiver Support Program exists to assist those who are caring for relatives over the age of 60 in their homes or in the homes of their older relatives.

It is recognized that caring for older family members at home is difficult and stressful. This is especially true when caregivers are working and/or raising families of their own.

The Caregiver Support Program provides monthly reimbursement for personal care, home support, and respite services, so that caregivers can take a break, let someone else prepare some meals, help with bathing, or assist with house cleaning. Reimbursement is also available for assistive devices (bedside commode, walkers, lift chairs, etc.) and for minor home modifications (ramps, grab bars, stair lifts, etc.).

Reimbursement rates for services and supplies vary, based upon household income, to a maximum of $300 per month, and program eligibility. An additional funding stream covers home modifications and assistive devices, to a maximum lifetime amount up to $2,000.

For more information, contact the Potter County Human Services Area Agency on Aging by calling Rhoda or Susanne at 814-544-7315 or 1-800-800-2560.
