Jeffrey P. Armstrong, 60, a loving husband, father, and brother, passed away, suddenly at his home on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.


National Guard
Born January 28, 1955, in Bradford, he was a son of the late John G. 'Jocko' and Janet (Howard) Armstrong.

Jeff was a 1973 graduate of Bradford High School. He was a ten year member of the National Guard from 1973 to 1982.

He had worked at Corning Glass from 1973 to 1974. In 1974 he started his employment as groundskeeper for the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford Campus until the time of his death. He was one of the longest tenured employees with 41 years.

On August 12, 2000, on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, he married Harriet (Francisco) Armstrong who survives.

He was passionate about his beautiful flowerbeds in and around the campus of Pitt-Bradford, the President's house, and his own home.

He and his wife were avid Civil War enthusiasts.

As an avid naturalist, Mr. Armstrong enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as picking leeks and berries. He had good company in his dog Guinness.

In addition to his wife Harriet he is survived by four daughters, Allison Rene Armstrong, and Stacie Lynn Carey, both of Bradford, Martina May Blahovec, of Pittsburgh,and Cheyenne Lee Armstrong of Bradford, a son, Alexander Norman Blahovec of Gainesville, GA, a sister, Mary Beth (Kelvin) Mohr, of Limestone, two brothers, Mark Armstrong, and Matthew (Patti) Armstrong, all of Bradford, three grandchildren, Kamden Carey, Aleksa Carey, and Raiden Westlake.

Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, October 25, 2015, on the Campus of the University of Pittsburgh, in the Richard E. and Ruth McDowell Sport and Fitness Center from Noon to 2:00pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
