Swerving To Miss Deer Results In Near Head On Crash On Rt. 6 In Roulette Township

On Wednesday Sept. 30th at approximately 12:24 was dispatched to a two vehicle crash w/no injuries in the area of the gravel pit on US Highway Ry 6 Roulette Twp.

Upon arrival located two vehicles parked along the highway( one W Bound, one E Bound). All occupants refused medical treatment even though the driver of the W Bound vehicle suffered minor cuts and scratches from the glass of his window/mirror coming in on him.


The operator of the E Bound vehicle swerved into the W Bound lane in an attempt to miss a deer that entered the highway from the S side of the highway. After swerving into the W Bound lane he struck ( almost head on ) the W Bound vehicle causing disabling damage to both vehicles. The operators of each vehicle 1 minor child in the vehicle with them.


Both vehicle were traveling 55-60 mph, everyone was wearing seat belts and properly restrained. The operator of the E Bound vehicle was cited for Roadways laned for traffic, and both vehicle were removed from the scene by wrecker services. Assisted at the scene by Roulette Fire Dept.

That's why you NEVER swerve to miss a deer. What's the point in missing a deer just to hit another car head on and possibly kill someone. Driving 101 people, especially if you're from the area.

2 good things from this situation. 1. No one got seriously hurt. 2. The deer population in that area is still at 100%
