House Legislation If Enacted Will End 40-Year Old Domestic Oil Export Ban

Thompson Supports Bill to Responsibly Fund Government, Increase Domestic Security and Prevent Regulatory Overreach

Washington, DC –Today, U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) voted in favor of funding the government through the remainder of Fiscal Year 2016 (Sept. 30, 2016). The measure passed the House by a vote of 316 to 113.

Thompson issued the following statement after passage of the bill:

“Following yesterday’s historic vote on tax reforms that will allow more Americans to keep their hard earned money, today the House has passed a bill to strengthen our national defense and responsibly fund government operations through the remainder of the Fiscal Year.

“In addition, the bill includes several policy changes, including reforms to the Visa Waiver Program, to ensure we are not allowing those who may intend to harm us into the country. We have also successfully lifted an outdated, 40 year-long moratorium on exporting domestically produced crude oil. Currently, the United States is the only oil producing country in the world with such a ban. Perhaps most importantly, the bill includes several measures to reduce fraud and abuse within government programs, increase transparency from federal agencies, and continues a process of reigning in regulatory abuses that have soared under this administration.

“I look forward to the Senate passing this measure later today and the President signing the bill into law this weekend.”

Yes this is fantastic,we sell oil to lets say china they refine in their refineries, sell it back to us for a profit and in the end what happens to the good ol' USA,lost jobs in the refineries, higher gas prices, higher unemploment rates, abd might as well throw in the higher crime rates as well ,because everyone will turn to drugs to get over their depression, but wait they will probly be legal so in closing i think its a brilliant idea, two thumbs up,kudos, dumba$$es

the bill will add an additional $600+Billion to the National Debt over the next ten years. Only simple minds like GT's consider this good for the country. The GOP will vote for it solely because it allows oil and gas exports. That will boost prices and reward their campaign coffers. It's full of goodies and add ons. Overall, a disgraceful attempt to show bipartisanship. If selling out our future is all they can agree on, they are a bunch of pathetic dupes and frauds.
