POTTER COUNTY HOLDS ANNUAL DINNER

Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers Potter County Advisory Board held its annual dinner at Tri-Town Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Co. in Ulysses, PA. Over 100 people attended to cele-brate CFTT’s 2015 accomplishments in Potter County, as well as to learn more about how CFTT works in the community.

The Potter County-based endowment funds of CFTT grew in number from nine at the end of 2014 to twenty-four by the end of 2015. Many of these 15 new endowment funds were created by people who had something in their hearts they wanted to build into a legacy, something that would reach far into the future, and they recognized that by establishing an endowment fund with CFTT, they would have a vehicle to do that.

Some of these new funds include: The Patrick W. Ryan Creative Writing and English Scholar-ship, Austin Dam Memorial Fund, Susquehannock Trail Club Fund, Ruth Agar Memorial Scholarship, Rose Marie Tubbs Memorial Scholarship, Northern Potter Athlete of the Year Award, Gerald F. Duffee, Sr. Scholarship, and Northern Potter Athletic Endowment Fund.

Also notable is that in the summer of 2015, CFTT was given an anonymous donation of $242,000, with instructions to divide $20,000 among the existing Potter County funds. In many cases this contribution boosting these funds to endowment status. With the remaining $222,000, seven new endowment funds were created to benefit already established Potter County nonprofits that did not already have endowment funds in place.

These seven organizations are:
* Austin Volunteer Fire Department * Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department
* Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association * Eulalia Cemetery
* Hearts Response, Inc. * Potter County Historical Society
* Teacher’s Pet Rescue

A popular feature of the Potter County’s annual dinner is the drawings for six $500 grants. This year these grants were made possible by the CFTT Community Impact Fund, the CFTT Potter County Community Impact Fund, Coudersport Lions Club, First National Bank of Port Allegany, Kightlinger Motors, Inc., and Northwest Savings Bank. The winners of the draw-ings then chose a Potter County nonprofit to receive a $500 grant. These drawing winners and the organizations they chose were:

* Michelle Mather chose Coudersport Vol. Ambulance
* Ron Ebbert chose E.O. Austin Home/Historical Society
* Gene Kosa chose Barbara Joy Olney Community Harmony Fund
* Cathy Bowers chose Patrick W. Ryan Creative Writing and English Scholarship
* Donna Lehman chose Eulalia Cemetery
* Nancy Smail chose Gale Hose Ambulance
