The Friends of Lyman Run will be lighting up the dam once again this year.

The Friends of Lyman Run will be lighting up the dam once again this year..this time without the interference from a full moon! The event will be held on Saturday, January 9th at 7 pm.

Over 300 luminaries will be set up along the dam walkway to help celebrate making a 2016 resolution to spend time exploring nature in the outdoors. Last year the event was held on January 1st and was called "First Night, First Light" but the luminaries were out-shined by an extremely bright full moon, so this year's date is during a dark of the moon period and the number of chem-stix per luminary bag will be doubled, so we are going to give it another try and cross our fingers that it will be spectacular.

Visitors are invited to stroll the length of the dam to experience walking through through the luminaries...dress warmly as there is usually a breeze on the top of the dam. This program is free and is sponsored by the Friends of Lyman Run, a chapter of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation which is dedicated to being the voice of the people for PA Parks and Forests.

Event will be cancelled if the weather is awful. Please direct question to the Lyman Run State Park office at (814) 435-5010. Event volunteers are reminded to be at the park to help make up the luminaries at 3:30 pm. Meet at the Park Maintenance building. A chili and cornbread supper will be provided to helpers.
