Richard L. “Dick” Simmons, Sr., 93, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at The Green Home.
He was the husband of Wilda (Colegrove) Simmons, who preceded him in death October 19, 2013. They shared 65 wonderful years of marriage together.

Richard was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the tank destroyer unit under General Patton.
Richard was a member of Draper Baptist Church, where he was a part of the church quartet. He was an avid bowler, a 700 bowling club member. He also enjoyed playing his acoustic guitar and was a Gene Autry fan. Richard loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, keeping the “candy dish” full for their enjoyment. He also liked to farm and was a TV and radio repairman.
Richard is survived by his sons, Richard L. Simmons, Jr. (Nora), Wellsboro and Fred E. Simmons (Elaine), Draper; his daughter, Sylvia Ellison (Ronald), Antrim; grandchildren, Matthew Ellison, Christopher Simmons, Sarah Simmons, Joshua Simmons (Morgan) and Hannah Welfling, (Karl); great grandchildren, Bryce, Sienna, Jon Luke Simmons, Wolfgang and Axl Welfling ; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Simmons; brothers, Perley (Pauline) Simmons, Ronald Simmons, Raymond Simmons, Bernard (Billie)Simmons and Lloyd (Connie) Simmons.
In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Borden (Wayne), Marian Sherman (Albert), brother Cecil Simmons.
Friends and family are invited to Richard’s Life Celebration on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd. 139 Main St., Wellsboro and 10-11 AM at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Service to follow at 11:00AM with the Rev. Dennis Crumb officiating. Burial in the West Branch Cemetery.
