2-5 Nance Family Benefit At Port Allegany VFW On Friday

Nance Family

Showing Some Love to the Nance Family...a dinner which includes chicken and biscuits, corn, mashed potatoes, tossed salad, drink and dessert will be offered for $10 to benefit the Nance Family. The family lost their home to a fire on January 14.

The event, sponsored by Team Hope, will be held at the Port Allegany Veterans Memorial Home from 4 - 8 p.m., on Friday, February 5. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, Chinese Auction, face painting, coloring contest and entertainment. Stop by and show this wonderful family some love..."Alone we can do so little...together we can do so much".

The Nance family (front) Heather, Holden, Isla; (back) Chloe, Lily, Shaun and River have a message for the community. "It is incredibly hard to express the overwhelming gratitude that our family feels for everything that has been done for us since our home was destroyed by a fire on January 14th. It has been a life-changing experience for all of us in so many ways. Although we lost so much that was important to us that day, the kindness, compassion, and generosity of the members of our community, and other communities as well, has lifted us out of this dark time in ways that we never could have imagined.

From the unbelievably generous monetary gifts, to the children taking clothes and toys of their own to give to our children, to gifts that have come from the hearts of so many, to the prayers, blessings, and well-wishes of friends, family, and even complete strangers, we have found ourselves moved to tears daily by the magnitude of blessings we have received.

Our hearts are now and will always be filled with gratitude for the men and women who responded to the fire that day; for our amazing neighbors who took our children into their home and made them feel safe and warm; for David and Jane Harrier for taking in our family and turning their lives upside-down for us to have a place to stay.

For our church family and the generosity of other churches in our community as well as surrounding communities; for Melissa Smoker for organizing a fundraiser for our family and all those that are volunteering their time and efforts to help her; for all those that contributed to Go Fund Me pages that were opened for our family by some amazing people; for the compassion and thoughtfulness of those we work with; and for the countless others that have come to our aid in so many ways.

Our community is truly something special, and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We are amazed and humbled by your blessings; thank you!"

(Ed). Mrs Nance is a teacher in the Port Allegany Elementary School.
