Baker Announces State Grants for Two Parks in Tioga County

Rep. Matt Baker
HARRISBURG – Rep. Matt Baker (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter) this week announced two state grants for Tioga County awarded under the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program.

“I am pleased to have this state funding awarded to two very worthy projects in our area,” said Baker. “Both projects are parks that will further enhance recreational opportunities for local residents and help to beautify the communities and make them more easily accessible. I congratulate all those involved in these projects who worked to gain this needed funding.”

The grants are as follows:

Blossburg Borough to receive $184,100 to rehabilitate and further develop Island Park in Blossburg Borough. Work will include construction of a nature play area, parking area and rain garden; installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing; renovation of tennis courts; along with ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

Nelson Township to receive $44,300 to rehabilitate and further develop Nelson Park in Nelson Township. Work will include installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing; and ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

A total of $28 million was awarded under the program this cycle for 176 projects across Pennsylvania that will create new recreational opportunities, conserve natural resources and help revitalize local communities.
