Eagle Scout Honored

Phillip Freelove, a member of Shinglehouse Boy Scouts Troop #557, became an Eagle Scout on Sunday, February 7, 2016. Eagle is the highest honor awarded to a scout. Phillip has enlisted in the Army National Guard after graduation in June from Oswayo Valley High School. Phillip is the son of Gene & Charlene Freelove of Shinglehouse, PA.

The Eagle Ceremony, held at the Shinglehouse Firehall, was attended by approximately 100 people including representatives of the Allegany Highlands Council, Troop 557 Charter Organization SVFD, Troop 557 leadership and scout leaders, Troop 557 scouts, 2 pastors, the Oswayo Valley Superintendent, the OV Guidance Counselor, an OV teacher, mentors, family, and friends. 

Eagle Scouts put in a hundreds of hours of work and commitment to meet the Eagle requirements. The scouts have a vast support system that encourages them and plays a key part in their success and the success of all boys and young men in the scouting program.
