Recent spike in heroin related overdoses

The Wellsville Police Department is cautioning the public that there has been a recent spike in heroin related overdoses throughout Allegany County.

Those addicted to opiates, family and friends are encouraged to dial 911 immediately if an opiate overdose is suspected.

You HAVE to eliminate marijuana first. This is the gateway drug. The pathway to peace symbols.. Severe loss of brain cells and a non-contributor to society. Once this is accomplished, the pot head seeks out heroin as a means of ending his useless life.

@ 9:07,

I don't smoke pot and I could care less about the pothead legalization agenda. Actually, I'm pretty sick of hearing about it. However, calling marijuana a gateway drug is a ridiculous cop out. All one needs to avoid becoming a heroin addict is, common sense, an IQ slightly above a chimpanzee, and refrain from using it. If a person consciously chooses to use heroin, it's not because of marijuana or any other irrelevant factors. Whether it's lack of intelligence or mommy and daddy didn't care enough to educate...it still comes down to personal responsibility. People need to start accounting for their actions. If there is no demand, there will be no supply.

All drugs need to be outlawed...period. This includes, pot, heroine, prescriptions drugs, cigarettes, and over the counter medications. The human body is made up of natural resources to heal itself. Man made cures are used to "brainwash" our society into believing that we need these prescription drugs to "get by". I used to be sucked into this mentality too by taking multiple medications for asthma, blood pressure, pain, and cholesterol. The smartest thing I have ever done was to throw them all away and start eating healthy, taking vitamins, and excercising. Natural herbal teas, oils, and unprocessed honey can do wonders for the human body, along with giving you a much healthier mental state. It is a proven fact that someone who feels good halth wise will also feel better mentally. It's hard to believe that doctors so readily prescribe multiple anti-depression drugs along with sleep enhancers.

I think you both need educated. Go to Facebook page Always Remember Danielle Kristen Fitzsimmons. Also, if you want to put the real blame where it belongs, look at your family doctor. When they first started writing prescription pain meds, opiates, I don't think they realized the long term affects it would have. They may as well handed out heroin. It is the SAME thing.
Also, I am unafraid to use my name and not hide behind "anonymous"

I'm really disgusted with your lack of knowledge or education about this disease. You obviously weren't educated properly by your " mommy and daddy" as you say. Your whole comment shows your ignorance as well as the person before you. Heroine is a drug in which you're addicted immediately. It's not a matter of the person being educated or smart enough, these individuals are addicts and have a serious illness. How about the doctors who prescribe opiates and up the dosage until there isn't anything stronger? By this point the person is so addicted that it is not medically safe to stop taking the drugs on your own due to serious health issues or death. It's very sad that our society is so judgemental. Maybe you should educate yourself before you make rude or crude comments. It can happen to anyone regardless of who they are or their personal background!

Who cares? Weed out the weak. Be less people on the system too.

If you truly believe all drug users are on the system, you're seriously ignorant. Drug users are all likes of people. Ypu shoukd educate yourself.

It does actually come down to the natural phenomenon called parenting. If you can't feed/educate your offspring.. Do not breed!! Coming from a responsible educated adult of the United States of America! Oh. I might add.. A TAXPAYER!

Thank you 1:01, I believe the people need to be educated on this. It is a powerful disease and it affects not only the addict, but family, friends, and communities. Do it once and you are always looking for that first high. As far as weeding out the weak, I'm sure we all have our weakness's, and more people care than you realize.

It is incomprehensible that you believe that all
Addicts are "on the system". I, also, am a responsible, educated adult of the United States of America. Oh, and a tax payer as well. I believe George Duke, the owner of Zippo, is also all of those. That didn't stop heroin from killing my daughter and his son.

You sound completely stupid. Many people smoke pot, and never venture to other drugs. Maybe you should give it a shot, and not further contribute to wrongful information.

Brother Nature can Eff Off!! Sell pot in stores, tax it, and that way people won't deal with dealers who also sell pills and heroin and cocaine. Keep the soft drugs in stock, and keep those people away from the hard drugs.

They shut down the pill mills after Perdue spent a lot advertising and pushing OxyContin (TM) as a great pain killer. Yeah, it's great! Just like Bayer and Merck when they made heroin for getting off cocaine addiction. Because, 100 years ago, dysintery, and the hershey squirts, could be fatal. Now that pills are at a premium, the junk is back in demand. The French Connection, eh?

Nowadays.. Portugal has shown that legalizing all drugs and treating addicts works. Amsterdam "tolerates" soft drugs. Same as a few other countries.

That is stupid!!!!

If your stupid enough to do it you pay the consequences. Its all in what you choose to do. Peer pressure is everywhere. Go above and beyond of being a follower and try being a leader of your own life and path that you chose to take.If you chose the wrong path than that's up to you and NO ONE else's fault but your own! Your not just hurting yourself your hurting your families and friends in the process. My kids are my life and hope I have raised them enough to take the right path like my parents have taught me. If they choose the wrong path than I will try my best to be there to help them. That's all I can do! We all make bad choices in our lives. We either work through them or we don't!

Let them all die off

I know, Paula Anonymous, many people who have been injured, gone to the doctor, and prescribed opiates. Then...when they are longer in need of the pain killers...they throw them away. It's called self-discipline and will power. Addiction is nothing more than weakness. I used my "name", Paula Anonymous, so no more hiding from me.

Seymour Nomour said...

You're the problem. People like you...are why there is addiction. Your weakness, making excuses, labeling it as a disease...are all contributing factors. You know how you don't become "immediately addicted" to heroin?? You use common sense, intelligence, and don't try heroin. Blame doctors for heroin addiction is the new cliche, I understand that, but they've been prescribing addictive drugs for ages. Yes, some people become addicted...they're the weak. Some people, use the medication as intended, then throw it away. They do this despite the nagging affects of withdrawal or lack of euphoric feeling. These are the strong-willed, intelligent, well-educated people who you see on a daily basis...that don't use heroin. It's not rocket science...stop making excuses, take responsibility, be involved in your children's lives, take responsibility, educate them... take responsibility.

Seymour Nomour said...

Maybe you need to educate yourself. 1:08 didn't say all drug users are on the system. Stated clearly, that there would be less people on the system. Clearly. So unless there are no drug users on the system...he is right and you calling him ignorant...makes you...well...ignorant.

Anonymous said...

So much ignorance, it's frightening. Doctors are getting everyone hooked on pain pills and psychotropic medications. There are new, current and accurate studies proving this. In 2014 American drs wrote enough prescriptions for opiate pain killers that every man, woman, and child in the US could hold at least 1 bottle. They also write highly addictive prescriptions for many other drugs. Once Oxycontin came out, people started dying all over the country from legally prescribed drugs. Wake up, see the reality and stop believing 1950's propaganda films.

Anonymous said...

No one stated ALL addicts are on the system! Whew! Maybe you're eyes get blurry when you're on that stuff?! Does the heroin kill people? Or is it their poor judgement and weak will power? Now don't even try to say they don't suffer from either.

Now that's a brilliant comment
