COMPASSION EDUCATOR EMILY HINE TO SPEAK AT PITT-BRADFORD

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will host Emily Hine March 24 as part of its Executive Speaker Series.

Hine will talk about “Being Human: Compassion is a Social Responsibility” from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m. in the Mukaiyama University Room. The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored in part by a grant from the Pitt Year of the Humanities.

Hine has more than 25 years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, marketing and public speaking and has raised $150 million for nonprofit organizations across the United States. Currently, she works with businesses, nonprofits and individuals who are interested in increasing mindfulness, compassion and peace.

She served on the executive team for Seeds of Compassion, a 2010 global event with the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu to encourage the social and emotional well-being of children who can then grow into compassionate adults.

Hine is certified by the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University as a Compassion Cultivation Training Teacher. She is also trained in nonviolent communication and Vipassana/mindfulness meditation.
