Coudersport Police Arrest Man For 28 Bags Of Heroin With Year Old Baby In Car

Coudersport Police have released details of a February 20, 2016 drug arrest when heroin was found in his car.

Daniel Thomas Moore, 24,  was stopped at North Main & Seventh Streets in Coudersport Borough for a traffic violation. In the investigation, it was discovered that Moore had 28 bags of heroin and a syringe in his vehicle. He also had a one year old baby in a car seat in the car.

Moore was placed under arrest. He was transported to Cole Memorial for a blood draw which was positive for THC and Heroin. Criminal charges were placed by officer William Wenzel for:

Moore was arraigned before District Judge Annette Easton and committed to the Potter County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is set for March 21, 2016.

Coudersport Police was assisted at the scene of the traffic stop by officers of the Eastern Drug Task Force.

UPDATE: Moore waived all charges over to criminal court. He is represented by Potter County Public Defender, Walter Stenach. Court documents indicate Moore remains in jail in lieu of bail.

i agree, much too lenient bail and the charges are all the cops could get him on, but i too think attempted murder should be included. what a freaking loser, and this passenger of his.....wonder if it was the baby's mom. so sad.

Wow!!! No wonder Potter County is in bad shape as far as drugs go. This punk's bail should have been MUCH higher. Why wasn't his address posted so that others can be made aware of where this thug lives?? Finally, it MIGHT be a blessing in disguise for the little baby. With hope, we can pray that this little one will be taken away!!

28 bundles of death and he gets 1 felony and $15,000 bail..I got caught in coudy with $30 of pot and got 4 felonies 8 mistermeners and $20,000 bail...I wonder why kids are turning to heroin..its less of charge..how is that fair?.. same cops slap him on the wrist and I got the book thrown at me for far far less..what's up with that?

attempted murder.. are you serious?! get over yourselves. do any of you understand how serious an attempted murder charge is? those charges are pretty serious by themselves. not that this guy should get a pass because what he did was terrible. and dont judge this guy because he is obviously a drug addict, not a loser.. drugs are WHAT he did not WHO he is, dont be so quick to judge. Hopefully this guy can get the help he needs to get clean, and thank God the child is ok.. and i also notice how all of you post anonymously while saying all these bad things.. spineless.

Good thing he didn't try to run. We know that Ford wouldn't be able to catch him.

I'm his ex girlfriend he's going no where in life i put him through rehab years ago. he has no will power wont even try to help himself.... no sympathy for him. the one time when he got out of rehab his relapsed that night... this has been going on for years.

I'm the baby's aunt and totally agree with you. How ever I don't believe the bail was set high enough... pot charges are worse then this and I can't under it. The mothere of the child was in the hospital at the time and had no idea till after the fact that it happened ... everyone jumping to conclusions saying she was part of it is crap

Unknown said...

That baby is fine. His mother was in the hospital the time this all happened and had no idea it was going on she was told the baby was asleep in bed doing great. As for this loser who put my nephew in harms way..yes he does deserve WAY more then what he got and I want him to burn for it ..but before people jump to conclusions and believe what they find in the Internet. .look into it a little further ...the mom is NOT at fault here

@ 11:18:00 AM... The problem is that there is a huge inadequacy in regards to treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues... I don't know this young fellow but hopefully he will be able to get the help he needs and not get caught up in the probation and drug court money trap..

The laws are garbage at the local levels in Potter County. 9:40:00 AM EDT, you should have just received a citation for that. But in hindsight, no one could make money off of you. This scum bag's victims and himself will yield more money to the corrupt officials who have the pharmaceutical company's in their back pocket. Pharmaceutical companies are profiting off drug addiction. Do some research!

Just kicking the can down the road is no solution.

Eventually, if these types of situations(drug dealers and
overdose deaths) continue, I'm afraid vigilantes will form
and deal more directly with this problem.

Good work, Officer Wenzel. It has been some time since I lived in Coudersport, when has heroin become an issue in the area? Is it affecting surrounding counties, also? I never thought this drug would find its way to such a quiet, close-knit town...

I too have my convictions about the PC legal system, from the so-called DA way to the top. They all get their photos in the paper and tell stories on how they are cracking down on the heroin - that's a joke. I moved once and am moving again. You people will never learn that your high power people protect their own.

Apparently in Potter County you are guilty until proven innocent, your name slandered and dragged through the mud by anonymous before you've even been arraigned on the charges you're accused of.

Am I defending him? Nope, Dan's probably guilty, but lets allow a jury to decide before we hang him.

How would you like to be accused of something and your address plastered all over the internet for wannabe vigilantes?

You think a drug dealer's address (like they usually even have a permanent address) is going to do what? You're not going to send your kids over there for cookies? You shouldn't be sending them anywhere to begin with if you don't know the people and the place.

Get over yourselves.

And yea she was at fault for not knowing for a fact where her daughter was. In the hospital or not. Guess what??? When you hang out with drug dealers and heroin addicts and you end up in the hospital, drug dealers and drug addicts end up taking care of your kids.

Would it have been better if the child were at home with the heroin addict rather than in a vehicle? Listen to yourself making excuses.

i think the baby mother was in the hospital having another baby by the loser the mother new...for love of god prayer's go out to the baby and hope the hell CYS is going to be a part of this case now ,,,pull the kid intell the case is done

Uhh, the borough council has nothing to do with arrests, charging people or setting bail. That's the police and the district attorney. Judges set bail.

Ok first of all I agree that he needs to be held accountable for his actions . Addiction isn't an excuse however it is a fatal disease. As someone in recovery with multiple years of clean time . I urge everyone to educate themselves about addiction . It's not that he's a bad person or even a weak person he has a fatal disease . I will keep this young man in my prayers that he finds recovery before its too late. Without recovery all addicts ultimately go jails institutions and finally death . I'm asking for you all to quit judging and pray to whomever your higher power is for this addict and those like him. Accountability yes condemnation no . Addiction affects all of us even if we don't realize it . Its the ripple effect. We need more treatment and better education . Hats off to Potter County as I have seen first hand they're trying other options besides jail. Let's remember none of us are perfect nor would we want to be judged by our mistakes in such a public forum

Nice. I punched a guy one time for calling my wife a whore and my kids retards. My bail was $250,000

I saw something about, we are now supposed to shoot our local heroin dealers.. count me in. What a piece of shit

Anonymous said...

Chris, shut up. He can rot for all anyone cares

Anonymous said...

He's a drug addict not a loser? That is an oxy moron. I've never met a drug addict that wasn't a loser

Unknown said...

some of you are pretty quick to judge... maybe this guy is a loser but not all drug addicts are losers..lol. and i pray for you brandon welch, who contacted me and threatened me today for my earlier comment.. you can all trash this guy and me but take a look at yourselves and your actions as well.. are you really acting in a responsible, spiritual manner?. everyone is entitled to their opinion tho.. btw back to the subject, bail is set too low for this guy.

Anonymous said...

Bail is too low? What makes any of you think Dan can even come up with $15k? The point of bail is to secure someone's return to court, not punish them before they've even had their day in court.

You people need to get a life.

Well let's actually update this story correctly since the details aren't given. Dan was pulled over in front of a borough council member's home. It happen to be the child's great grandparents home. dan was completely trashed when pulled over. The child's mother was in er for pregnancy complications and dan had lied to her about what he was doing with her child. everyone in that family tried to help Dan obviously he chose a different path. the child's mother hopefully has chosen to not support dan anymore. dan is an absolute threat to the well being of all of us. I can't give anyone an address on him bc he couch surfs. the child's mother has spoken with cys and making better choices. every dealer in this town deserves to rot in a cell. our children deserve a safe home.

If you get a bail bondsmen that is 1500 dollars. That is a ridiculously low bail considering what I've seen people in Potter county receive for far less

$15,000. This is disgusting. Our public officials smoke weed, snort a little blow and this guy can walk for 10% of his bail. Furthermore when our leaders took away activities for youths they made this little community a place where kids hang out in unmonitored areas, where temptations to try drugs can occur. Back in the day of Erway's Fun n' Food Barn, the rink, etc., kids may show up with a little beer, weed. But never the hard stuff. And get kicked out if they didn't behave. Friends looked out for each other. Today you get a handful of innocent bored kids here and there ready for a thrill. Before they know it someone tricks them into trying the next best thing....and they're hooked. You can't fart in this county without Johnny Law bearing down on you. Can't go out and have a beer, raise hell like the old days. Coudersport especially now has one thing missing. Tumbleweeds. But I do support our police. Definitely. But they should back off and concentrate getting trash like the subject in this post out of our community. And others like him. And let the good ones enjoy things that make life fun. And let kids be kids. Pills, Smack, Coke, and the ones who transport and deal it....Bye Bye. After all, a river does run through it. Great catch Officer Wenzel. My hat is off to you.
