Florence E. Fitzsimmons

Florence E. Fitzsimmons, 95, formerly of Eldred, PA, entered into heaven while surrounded by her loving family on Pierce Brook Rd., Smethport, where she had resided with her son and daughter in law, Allen and Judy Fitzsimmons, for the past several years.

Born August 18th, 1920 in Eldred she was a daughter of Raymond J. and Anna Fowler Wright. On October 2nd, 1942 in Farmers Valley, by Hugh H. Athins, minister of the Gospel, she married Boyd A. Fitzsimmons, who passed away on October 29th, 2004.

Mrs. Fitzsimmons was a 1938 graduate of Eldred High School. She was a longtime hairdresser in the local area.

Florence was a longtime member of the Eldred United Methodist Church and the Phoenix Chapter No. 15 Order of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and gardening. She also enjoyed playing cards, knitting and canning. She loved spending time with family.

Surviving are three sons, Allen (Judy) Fitzsimmons Sr. of Smethport, Karl (Theresa) Fitzsimmons of Smethport, and Boyd (Wanda Stebbins) Fitzsimmons of Eldred; ten grandchildren, Allen (Sandy) Fitzsimmons Jr., Stan (Ann) Fitzsimmons, Dean Fitzsimmons, Brad (Patty) Fitzsimmons, Lisa (Shawn) McKenna, Amy Blaising, Aaron (Kristin) Fitzsimmons, Zachary Fitzsimmons, Megan Fitzsimmons and Gretchen Fitzsimmons; several grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Tracy Fitzsimmons; two sisters, Luella Cordner and Clara Nuhfer; and two brothers, Raymond Wright and Robert Wright. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Friends may call Friday (March 4th, 2016) at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm at the Eldred United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ernie Perry, Pastor, and the Rev. Max Simms, co-officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette, Pa.

Phoenix Chapter No. 15, Order of the Eastern Star will conduct funeral ceremonies at 8:30 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
