Jane E. Lane, 95, of Galeton, PA, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA. 

 Born September 15, 1920 in Galeton, she was a daughter of the late Silas and Frances (Keller) Finch. She was a graduate of Galeton High School. She was married to James "Shorty" Lane for 61 years before he preceded her in death. 

Jane worked at Martin's Grocery Store in Galeton for 34 years, retiring in 1982. 

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galeton, a member of the Galeton Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Galeton Legion Auxiliary, was on the Human Services Advisory Board, worked at the Galeton Senior Center, and recently, was a Peer Helper and Ombudsman at Cole Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. 

Jane was a sweet, kind, generous, and helpful woman who enjoyed reading, going to camp, baking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She often donated what she made to one of many charitable organizations. She was an avid card and letter writer and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. 

She will be missed by her family, friends and the Galeton community. 

Surviving are a son, James R. (Linda) Lane, Coudersport; three granddaughters, Alyssa Lane, Atlanta, GA, Heather (Tom) Ryder, Gainesville, GA and Meredith (JR) Page, Coudersport; six great grandchildren, Adrian, Rosalyn, Andrew, Gabriel, Mitchell and Lane Elizabeth; two nieces, Ann Lauer and Margie Miller; and three nephews; Alan Finch, Tim Aley and Chad Lytle. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was predeceased by three brothers; Joe, Albert and her twin, James, and two sisters, Geraldine and Harriet. 

Friends may call at the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel, Galeton, on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm and on Monday, March 14, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church, Galeton, from 10:00-11:00am. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am with the Rev. Tom Shatto officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery. 

 Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Galeton or the Cole Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Activity Fund.
