Project Resumes Next Week on I-80 in Montour County

Montoursville – A multi-year, $30 million project is set to resume next week on Interstate 80 in Montour County.
On Monday, March 21, prime contractor Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. will set up traffic control devices in the westbound lanes of the interstate from the Columbia County line to the Danville/Route 54 Interchange.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday, the contractor will mill and fill rumble strips in the westbound left shoulder throughout the work zone. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane while this work is being performed.

This work is part of a $30 million reconstruction project on I-80 eastbound from Danville to the Columbia County line. The project includes 3.6 miles of reconstruction and bridge work in the eastbound lanes.

The project also will include shoulder construction and bridge work in the westbound lanes in order to maintain two lanes of traffic in each direction for the majority of the time during construction.

Other parts of the project include concrete patching in the eastbound and westbound lanes from the Northumberland County line to the Danville interchange.

Construction began in late 2015 and will be completed in the fall of 2018.

Motorists should expect delays, be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
