St. Marys Man Dies When Water Truck Hits Trees & Rolls Off Rt. 219 Today

A St. Marys man died in a water truck crash at noon on Friday, about 1/10 mile north of Burning Well Road in McKean County.

James P. Eckls, 67, of St. Marys, PA, was driving a 2006 Kenworth Tri-axle water truck owned by Buerk Septic Service, Inc. of St. Marys.

Trooper Timothy W. Mix of the Kane Barracks, who investigated said the vehicle was traveling northbound when it left the right side of the road for undetermined reasons where it then struck two trees and rolled over before coming to rest. Eckls was pronounced deceased at the scene by the McKean County Coroner.

Route 219 was closed until around 6:00 PM
