Volunteers Needed for 42nd Annual God’s Country Marathon

Organizers of the God’s Country Marathon, Half Marathon & Team Relay are seeking volunteers to host water stations during this year’s race on Saturday, June 4. Operating a water station is a great way for individuals or groups of friends, families or coworkers to participate in the event. Volunteers can also help by assisting with start and finish line duties.

Last year, the event saw the most runners in over three decades, with over 300 registered runners from 10 states and Slovenia, and organizers expect that number to grow again this year.

“With the number of runners growing, the support of our community becomes even more vital in continuing to provide our runners with the outstanding experience our race is known for,” said David Brooks, race director and Executive Director of the Potter County Visitors Association (PCVA). “We are proud to be one of the few races with a track record of hosting water stations at every mile and we appreciate the support of the community in keeping that tradition going every year.”

Instructions and volunteer sign up forms are available at Please return your completed form to PCVA, PO Box 245, Coudersport, PA 16915 or contact PCVA at 814-274-3365. You may also fax your form to 814-274-4334 or email it to Volunteers who sign up by April 29 will receive complimentary t-shirts. Those volunteering to host water stations are also eligible to win gift certificates to local restaurants.

The God’s Country Marathon is a USA Track and Field certified course and sanctioned event and a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. God’s Country has been named one of the “10 toughest” and “best small” marathons in the United States by Runner’s World Magazine and one of “25 Great American Half Marathons” by Competitor Magazine.
