On April 13, 2016 the Pastoral Planning Process announced that St. Augustine Church in Austin PA, formerly a mission of St. Bibiana, Galeton will no longer be a “mission church”. St. Augustine will become a “secondary church” of St. Eulalia Parish of Coudersport. Parishioners will still have “access” to their original church buildings for weddings, funerals, and select liturgies – such as their annual feast day. No weekend masses will be held. Over time, after their parishes merge, they may decide it no longer makes sense to maintain additional church buildings. They may find they don’t have resources to keep it up. At that point St. Eulalia of Coudersport can request that the bishop consider closing/selling St. Augustine.

The Erie diocese is allowing for feedback in the form of a survey until May 20th. We encourage all of you who use this church to participate in the survey at: www.eriercd.org/planning.asp. Click Strategic Pastoral Planning. Then, under Feedback Forms – click INDIVIDUAL SURVEY FORM.

The decision will be rendered by September with final implementation by February 13, 2017.

Had not the Popes, Cardinals, Bishops, Priests, and Nuns
covered up the pedophilia going on within many churches
for centuries, most of the churches would have remained

After years of paying hush monies and settling lawsuits,
the end result is that parishioners are no longer donating
money like they used to and many have left what they feel
is a hypocritical church.

Originally, popes and priests were allowed to marry. The
church decided families inherited too much of the church's
money, so marriages were forbidden.

Pedophiles realized that being a priest gave them an excuse
to be around children and that the church would shield them
from the law. When exposed, priests were transferred to other parishes and dioceses without warning the parents.

By no means are the Catholic Churches the only ones preying
on children.

Sign O' The Times - as more turn away from GOD and rising costs to keep a building to house "church" grows, you will see more of this across America.

I find it utterly confounding that the bishop and his advisors have decided to do this since there is a priest, Fr. Dougherty who is available and has been serving the parish for over six years. This is especially important to those who vacation, fish, hunt and own cottages in the Austin, Costello, Wharton and Sinnemahoning area. It makes an ideal church for those who desire an optional place to attend. Why does the establishment always want to fix something that doesn't need fixing. I sincerely hope those who agree with this comment will contact
