Area Fire, Ambulance Companies Awarded $338,255

HARRISBURG – Fire and ambulance companies spread across all three counties that make up the 68th Legislative District received $338,225.56 in state grants under the Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, announced Rep. Matt Baker (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter).

“This grant program has delivered hundreds of thousands of dollars to our volunteer emergency service organizations over the years and truly makes it possible for some of these companies to continue their operations,” said Baker. “Fire and ambulance services are expensive when one considers the training, equipment and facilities needed, and these grants are vital in meeting their financial obligations.”

Funding from the Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program can be used for construction or renovation of a company’s station, the purchase or repair of equipment, training or debt reduction.

The following Bradford County fire and EMS companies in the 68th District received grants:

Oscouluwa Engine and Hose Company Inc.: $11,967.12.
Ridgebury Volunteer Fire Company Inc.: $11,967.12.
Smithfield Township Volunteer Fire Department: $12,194.96.
South Creek Ambulance Association Inc.: $7,201.70.
South Creek Volunteer Fire Company Inc.: $11,739.29.
Tri Township Ambulance Association: $7,201.70.

Grants were awarded to the following fire and EMS companies in the 68th District in Potter County:

Gale Hose Company No. 1 Inc.: $7,201.70.
Germania Fire Company: $11,511.46.
Goodyear Hose Company No. 1 Inc.: $11,739.29.

Grants were awarded to the following fire and EMS companies in Tioga County:

Blossburg Fireman’s Ambulance Association: $7,201.70.
Blossburg Volunteer Fire Department: $11,511.46.
Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Company: $12,194.96.
Clymer Township Volunteer Hose Company: $11,967.12.
Crary Hose Company: $12,194.96.
Elkland Borough Volunteer Fire Department: $11,511.46.
Knoxville-Deerfield Volunteer Fire Company: $11,967.12.
Lawrenceville Fire Department: $12,878.46.
