Bridge Repairs Scheduled for Next Week on Route 146 in McKean County

Bridge will be closed; drivers should find alternate routes
Smethport, PA – Repair work will take place next week on a Route 146 bridge in Norwich Township, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The bridge is located about 1 mile south of the village of Colegrove, near the intersection of Routes 146 and 46. The 61-foot bridge spans Potato Creek and carries an average of 200 vehicles each day.

Repair work is scheduled Tuesday through Friday, April 19 through 22.

The bridge is structurally deficient and is currently posted with weight restrictions of 23 tons for single vehicles and 27 tons for combination vehicles. PennDOT currently plans to replace the bridge in 2017 and next week’s repairs will keep it in service until replacement takes place.

A bridge crew from PennDOT McKean County Maintenance will do the repair work. The bridge will be closed during repairs and area drivers will need to find alternate routes. Should work progress allow, PennDOT will re-open the bridge ahead of schedule. All work is weather dependent.
