Star Hose Co. Firefighter From Port Allegany Discovered Group Home Fire; Evacuated Residents

Star Hose Company #1 added 2 new photos.
Yesterday, while out grabbing lunch in Bradford, Lt. Lucas Johnson discovered a working fire in a large multi-unit residence. He immediately called 911 to report the fire.

Despite not having any personal protective clothing, he entered the building without hesitation to begin evacuating residents. Lt. Johnson encountered several residents on the first floor as well as staff members. After instructing them to exit, Lt. Johnson proceeded to the second floor, evacuating more residents. He continued to the third floor where he encountered smoke beginning to fill the hallway.

After searching several rooms, Lt. Johnson, with the assistance of a Bradford City police officer who had now arrived, forced entry to the remaining locked rooms and confirmed that all occupants were out of the building.

Returning to the street, Lt. Johnson met arriving city fire units and advised them of the fire conditions and location, and that all occupants were out of the building. He then assisted in stretching a supply line to a nearby hydrant.

In all, approximately 9 occupants were alerted and evacuated by Lt. Johnson prior to the arrival of fire department units.

Despite the risk to himself, Lt. Johnson took immediate, life saving actions that exemplify the values and traditions of the Star Hose Company.

Thank God everyone is ok. What about their garden this year? Can we donate plants or gardening materials anywhere? I have extra flats of organic beefsteak & another flat of oxheart tomato seedlings if they're accepting plants. Hoping & praying that there will be a garden for the residents this year.
