BRADFORD – Nearly 200 Cold War-era veterans will be recognized at a ceremony in Bradford on Saturday, May 21, and Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) is inviting area residents to join in honoring their service to our country.

The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s Bromeley Theater. It will be preceded by a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The keynote speaker is retired Brig. Gen. Frank Sullivan, United States Air Force. He most recently served as director of joint staff for the Pennsylvania National Guard.

“The Cold War was a prolonged and very trying time in our nation’s history,” Causer said. “The men and women who served during this time played a vital role in preventing the spread of communism and preserving our democracy. They are certainly deserving of our thanks and appreciation.”

The ceremony will honor Cold War-era veterans who served in the armed forces between Sept. 2, 1945, and Dec. 26, 1991.

No RSVP is required for members of the public who wish to attend. Qualified veterans who would like to participate in the ceremony but have not yet registered should contact one of Causer’s offices in Bradford (814-362-4400), Coudersport (814-274-9769) or Kane (814-837-0880).
