COMMUNITY BLOOD BANK HOLDING BLOOD DRIVE, HAS URGENT NEED

AUSTIN, PA - The Community Blood Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York is urging community members to donate blood at their upcoming community blood drive.
Due to lower than average donor turnout at recent blood drives and continued increased usage by some partner hospitals, the Community Blood Bank is reporting an urgent need for all blood types.

The blood bank will be at the Austin Fire Hall from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 28. This blood drive is open to the community. No appointment is needed to save a life; walk-ins are always welcome.

Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 12 months; are in good general health and do not have a cold or the flu. You must have a valid photo ID in order to register. Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good, solid meal and drink at least 18 oz. of water.

For additional information, parental consent forms or to find other upcoming blood drives, please visit www.fourhearts.org or call (877) 842-0631.
