Kane Apartment House Fire Held To One Room & Contents

On Tuesday night around 11:17pm. McKean Station 5, KANEPD, were dispatched to a Commercial-Structure Fire in Kane Boro at 16 Field St. Upon dispatch Mckean Co. 911 advised that the caller said the building was filling with smoke. Kane PD unit 517 advised 911 that the building did have smoke in it. Upon the arrival of C-5 he updated the alarm to a working structure fire apartment building. 

First unit out the door was Tower 5. Chief 5 advised Tower 5 to take the address. 2nd out the door was E-56 and Chief 5 advised E-56 to take the hydrant on Fraley St. and lay in. Crews from E-56 and Tower 5 went to work inside. At that time Engine 57 and Rescue 55 had responded as well. E-57 crew laid into Tower 5 from the Chase St. & Bayard St. hydrant. Chief 5 had incident command and Chief 5-10 took command of interior operations. 

Command requested 1 engine from Mckean Station 10 to scene, and 1 engine from Elk. 6 to stand by at Station 5.The fire was knocked down and units began ventilation operations and clearing each division. Chief 5-20 was also on scene and helped with exterior operations, while Captain 5 had water supply operations. Engine 10 responded with Chief 10, Chief 10-10 and 3 interior firefighters. Elk Engine 63 responded to Station 5 with C-6, Deputy 6, Asst. 6, and 9 members. Units were on scene until about 0130. 

All crews did an excellent job. Thanks to Station 10 for the mutual aid assist, and Elk 6 covering our district while we were operating at the scene. MA 5 provided fire stand by. Also assisting on the scene was Kane Fire Police. And a special thanks to Kane Eagles Club who supplied cold water to all fireman and personnel involved. Unknown cost of the damage. 

Unknown cause of the fire at this time. The fire was held to room and contents. No injuries were reported. Station 5 clear!
