Night Sky Tour: Milky Way & the Summer Triangle Friday, July 22 Cherry Springs State Park

Night Sky Viewing Area

Experience the splendor of the night sky, highlighting our Milky Way and the Summer Triangle asterism. Watch the milky way fade as the moon rises into the night sky. Observe the constellations through a laser-guided tour conducted by park staff. Listen as we recount the legends and myths surrounding these mysterious patterns in the sky. Explore planets, star clusters and other deep space objects through the park's telescopes.

Pre-registration is required to attend this Program and spaces are limited.
While you may still observe on your own at the park without attending a program, all visitors should arrive before dark.
Programs are conducted at the Night Sky Viewing Area. Follow the red-lit walkway from the public program parking to the seating area.
The park asks that visitors to the Night Sky programs to please leave their pets at home. Dim lighting, large crowds and sensitive equipment do not create a pet-friendly environment.
If the sky is unfavorable for stargazing, an alternative program may be held.
All programs will be cancelled in the event of rain.
Visitors may want to check the Clear Sky Chart for 48-hour forecasts of cloud cover and viewing conditions.
***ADVISORY*** Road Closure - Route 44 will be closed from Oleona to the Lycoming County Line. Visitors from Jersey Shore and points southwards should use route 287 to Wellsboro or Route 15 to Mansfield and then take Route 6 West towards Galeton and the park until further notice.
