Monday, Aug. 8 from 7:45-9:45 p.m., Curt Weinhold, a Pennsylvania Wilds juried artisan, is offering a two-hour Nightscapes Photography Workshop at Cherry Springs State Park at 4639 Cherry Springs Road in Coudersport. The park is 11.8 miles or about 20 minutes from Galeton via West Branch Road and 15.1 miles or about 21 minutes from Coudersport using Route 44.

Registered participants will meet at the visitor parking lot by the kiosk for the first portion of the program in the park. From there, participants may travel to two or more locations near Cherry Springs so personal vehicles are required.

During the workshop, attendees will learn how to photograph the starry night sky with the digital single-lens reflex camera and lenses they already own. It is not for those wishing to learn how to photograph through a telescope.

Weinhold will teach participants how to photograph constellations and the Milky Way and how to successfully include trees or buildings in the foreground. To view samples of Weinhold's dark sky photography, visit

Registrants are asked to bring their own DSLR camera and interchangeable lenses, a tripod, a fully charged camera battery, a spare fully charged camera battery if available and a memory card. Clear nights can be cold so bring a jacket.

This workshop will only be cancelled if there is a 100 percent chance of rain. If it is cloudy or overcast, it will not be cancelled.

The fee is $35. Payment is due upon arrival at the program by check or cash only. Pre-register by 4 p.m. Friday Aug. 5. The class is limited to 10 participants.

To pre-register, visit If there is a problem with pre-registering online, call (814) 435-1037 or (814) 435-5010.
