WELLSBORO—In keeping with Wellsboro's First Friday theme “The Art of Wine,” there will be a free wine tasting and free wine for adults along with free art, music and fun things to do for all ages as well as super sales and raffles this Friday, Sept. 2 from 5-8 p.m., rain or shine.

The First Friday Downtown Sidewalk Sale is new with many businesses offering sale items outdoors, indoors or both and some also holding raffles with a chance to win a gift certificate for merchandise in that store or other prizes.

The Fifth Season at 100 Main Street will be hosting a wine tasting from 5-8 p.m. Get a free American flag and guess how many M&M candies are in the jar for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate.

Stop at the Native Bagel at 1 Central Avenue to hear Kres Kilmer play and sing.

In front of Stained Glass Reflections at 87 Main Street will be the sidewalk chalk art contest with all participants getting a goody and three lucky winners receiving a gift certificate to Peggy’s Candies & Gifts. There will be free music and James States will be making pottery and inviting people to give it a try. Inside will be free snacks and wine, a 20 percent discount on handblown glass wine bottle stoppers and a 50 percent discount on beads and beading supplies.

At Pop’s Culture Shoppe at 25 Main Street, the Road Virus will provide free music, the Crane brothers will create art and there will be an up to 60 percent off table of items. Bunches of grapes with additional discounts will be hidden throughout the store.

Enjoy a glass of wine at Shabby Rue at 69 Main Street while browsing for bargains and take part in the free raffle for a wine-related prize.

Emerge Healing Arts & Spa will be in front of the Ginn & Vickery law office at 99 Main Street with free chair massages and mini manicures.

From My Shelf Books & Gifts at 7 East Avenue is giving 25 to 30 percent discounts on all books related to the First Friday theme and bigger discounts on other items. Also being held during First Friday is the official release party for “Operation Ragnarok,” a fantasy geared to adult readers written by bookstore owner Kevin Coolidge.

Youngsters 12 and under who stop at Subway at 63 Main Street will receive a free cookie. There will also be tasty samples and people can enter a free drawing for a six-inch sub. The dining special is buy one six-inch sub and any drink and get another six-inch sub free.
