WELLSBORO—Friday, Oct. 7 marks the end of the third season of Wellsboro First Fridays.

With October Fest as its theme, this First Friday will celebrate summer's last hurrah and anything autumn. It will be held rain or shine from 5-8 p.m. with free art, music and fun things to do for all ages.

For a free beer and cider tasting, including both hard and plain cider, to register with KC101 for The Great Pumpkin Hunt with a chance to win $101 and other prizes, to have your photo taken as a scarecrow and take advantage of the huge blowout sale with savings from 20-60 percent, stop in at the Fifth Season at 100 Main Street.

Kacy Hagan will be giving free, short, easy dance lessons for beginners - foxtrot at 5 p.m., swing at 5:30 p.m., waltz at 6 p.m. and rumba at 6:30 p.m. - in the lobby at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street.

Youngsters can have their faces painted by Heather Ladd and Middle School Student Council members on the Deane Center's outdoor stage and lawn and play “Plinko," a game board.

Roger Bunn is providing free hot dogs at 17½ Crafton Street. Have a chili dog, a plain hot dog or spice it up with a locally made hot sauce and sweet onions.

Bring the kids to the Native Bagel at 1 Central Avenue for fall cookie decorating. While there, relax with a cup of coffee and listen to songs by Kres Kilmer.

The chalk art contest with prizes and local potter James States will be in front of Stained Glass Reflections at 87 Main Street. This is the last chance this season for youngsters to get their hands muddy and create something.

Peggy's Candies & Gifts at 82 Main Street is starting its Christmas giveaway. Spend $20 and get a free ticket to win one of two three-foot long Ty dogs. Pumpkin fudge is back. Give it a try.

Take the kids to Shabby Rue at 69 Main Street for free glow bracelets. There are lots of items on sale. Make a purchase of $50 or more and get a free Halloween scarf. Check out the new fall line of clothing, too.

Dunham's Department Store at 45 Main Street is holding sales storewide. Register to win special gifts in various departments.

Pop's Culture Shoppe at 25 Main Street invites youngsters to chase away monsters, fling bats, find ghosts and enter a drawing to win a KC101 prize pumpkin. In front of the store, Jesse Gotschal will perform and Josh Crane will create art.
