The latest news from the State Capitol
My Upcoming Senior Expo - I invite senior citizens, their families and caregivers to attend the Senior Expo I am co-hosting with state Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Expo Building 1 of the Clearfield County Fairgrounds in Clearfield.

My staff and I are looking forward to this event as an opportunity to spend time with our neighbors and friends. This is a great opportunity for you to check out the many local, state and federal service providers that are available to you.

Flu shots will be available for anyone who shows proof of participation in Medicare Part B. Light refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded.
Free Car Seat Checks - The Pennsylvania State Police will be participating in the National Child Passenger Safety Week campaign by holding a free car seat check and installation this Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 3-9 p.m. at the Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department, 108 East Cherry St., Clearfield.

All car seats from infant through booster seats can be brought to the location. Participants can expect the child seat check to last approximately 15-20 minutes.
Route 120/Brusselles Street Bridge - Replacement of the bridge, which crosses a branch of Elk Creek on Route 120 in St. Marys, is being postponed. The project had been scheduled for this summer as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

A release with full details on the new construction timeline will be distributed prior to the start of construction in 2017.
Attention Hunters - The Pennsylvania Game Commission is hosting a hunter training course on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Fox Township Sportsmen's Club, 203 Ridge Road, Kersey. The course is required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can purchase a license.

On Thursday, I attended dedication of the new Kinzua Bridge State Park Visitor Center in McKean County. Also in attendance were state Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) and Matt Boyer, a young man from Kane who attended one of the public meetings and is a real history buff. Matt was invited to speak at the dedication and did a great job!
