Port Allegany man to serve prison time for firearm charge
Bradford Era
SMETHPORT — A Port Allegany man was sentenced on Thursday in McKean County Court to a term in state prison for a firearm-related charge.
Timothy Major, 42, will serve four to eight years in state prison with credit for 103 days of time served for a charge of possession of firearm prohibited. Major pleaded guilty Aug. 25 to allegations that between March 6 and April 6, he possessed a .22 caliber rifle knowing he was not allowed to possess a firearm.
Meanwhile, a hearing is to be scheduled regarding two other cases against Major related to the sale of stolen property. According to President Judge John Pavlock, there are several potential things that could happen at the hearing, including a pretrial conference, a restitution hearing of entrance of a guilty plea. If Major entered a plea, Pavlock said he would likely be sentenced the same day. Read more McKean Court action.....
