Charles Albert Barrett, 88, of Wellsboro, PA passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016, at the Green Home. 

He was the husband of Barbara (Humble) Barrett, who survives. Charles was born July 5, 1928 in Plainfield, NJ. , the son of the late Lawrence F. and Alice (Harriott) Barrett.

Charles was a member of the Pine Creek Valley UMC. He was a USMC Veteran, having served during the Korean War. Charles was associated with Barrett Dairy, worked as a machinist, a general carpenter and then restored antiques, before retiring. In addition he was a volunteer fireman in New Jersey.

Charles was an accomplished musician, he played clarinet, tenor and baritone saxophone, was a member of the Marine Corp Band while in the service and Local 746 Musicians’ Union after the military. Charles was an avid woodworker.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years, are his son, Peter A. Barrett (Poppy) of San Pedro, California; daughter, Peg Frock of Wellsboro, PA; three grandchildren, Stephanie Krohn (Bryan) of Fort Worth, TX; Nicholas Shettel of Charlottesville, VA and Rebecca Williams (James) of York, PA. Great-grandchildren, Jack, Audrey, Ayden and Liam. 

Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Lawrence Barrett.

Friends and family are invited to Charles’ Life Celebration on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 1-2 PM at Pine Creek Valley UMC. Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Rob Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Plainfield NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charles’ name to Pine Creek Valley UMC 761 Route 6, Galeton PA 16921, the Salvation Army at www.salvationarmy.org or the charity of your choice.

Local arrangements are entrusted to Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, PA 16901.
