Here's my concern. I've just sent notes to the DA and County Commissioners based on this story. This is likely a legal sale...but...is anyone troubled that a 'real badge' is being sold. Retired or not...would the everyday citizen know it's retired?? If a regular citizen was pulled over, would they know this badge wasn't real? Say what you want...let the comments flow...but when a police officer retires...the badge goes away. Common people sure as Hell don't know the difference between an active and retired badge. Buy it, misuse it, bad...
And this too http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Sheriff-Badge-Potter-County-Shinglehouse-PA-Sterling-Silver-/252683596372?hash=item3ad51db254:g:I0EAAOSw6DtYUu95
Not sure about the rest of ya's... but I prefer a nice shiny badge when I get pulled over. Come to think of it, I never even looked at the badges before... usually the red and blue lights, assisting officers, handcuffs, judge, and jail gives me the confidence that I am in fact dealing with real officers.
I totally agree with poster 3:34. Who really gives a crap? People are way too thin skinned and paranoid these days. What are the chances that someone would buy this and then try to impersonate a Shinglehouse, PA police officer? You people need to let go of the mouse and slowly back away from the computer....you are too dumb to use the internet.
FYI, since 911 you cannot purchase a full size police badge unless you provide bonifide credentials. I'm sure there's a lot of "used" badges out there regardless, but the common sense of not having these available is apparent.
