Thresa Scalfaro

Thresa M. Scalfaro, 95, formerly of Canfield Hollow, Eldred, PA, passed away Thursday (Dec. 22, 2016) at the Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital.

Born April 9, 1921, in Coudersport, she was a daughter of George and Emma Dibble Nicklaus. On Feb. 13, 1971, in Duke Center, she married Philip B. “Pat” Scalfaro, who passed away on Feb. 5, 1992.

Thresa was a 1940 graduate of Roulette High School. She had resided at Sartwell Creek prior to moving to Eldred in 1971.

She had been employed at the Cameo Doll Factory in Port Allegany for eight years prior to being employed by Viko Furniture in Eldred for 32 years until her retirement in 1983.

Mrs. Scalfaro was a member of the Eldred Senior Center and enjoyed making ceramics, as well as playing the piano and singing.

Surviving are one stepson, Dean Scalfaro of Grand Junction, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Patricia “Patty” Barton of Rixford and Mary L. “Robin” Frederick of Duke Center; 16 stepgrandchildren and numerous step-great and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Pransky of Smethport, Mary (Joe) Marinik of Smethport, June (Roland) Kio of Eldred and Patricia (Dick) Baker in Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two stepsons, Jerry Scalfaro in 1941 and Bruce Scalfaro in 2013; a son-in-law, H. Frank Barton in 2013, and two daughters-in-law, Sally Scalfaro and Shirley Scalfaro; four sisters, Edna Minster, Ruth Roboski, Aurelia Reese and Hilda Buczkowski.

Friends may call Wednesday at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred from 2 to 5 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Sue Roboski, Thresa’s niece, officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
