2 ALARM FIRE DESTROYS FAMILY'S HOME
FIRST News Now
OSCEOLA - Around 4:00PM on Thursday, February 2, 2017, fire crews from Osceola, Elkland and Knoxville along with Valley Ambulance were all dispatched to a structure fire in Osceola Township.

Chief 3-30 of Elkland was first on scene and confirmed that this was a working structure fire. Chief B. Davenport then immediately requested a 2nd Alarm to be issued, at which time, fire crews from Westfield (Crary Hose Co.), Nelson, Lawrenceville and Woodhull were dispatched to assist. Also a special request was made for Wellsboro to respond with their cascade unit. FNN was told that a cascade unit is a portable air unit used to refill air canisters that firefighters use. (See image provided by Wellsboro EMS & Rescue).

All units responded to a 116 year-old, 3 bedroom home, located on the Camp Brook Road. As other fire units arrived on scene, the house was already consumed by flames.

FNN was told the home and all of its contents were lost in the blaze. The family was not home at the time of the fire.

The fire was reported out around 5:22PM. Crews were said to be on scene nearly two hours as the last unit was cleared from the fire scene.

The family that lost their home consisted of two adults and three children. FNN learned that there is a 2 year-old boy, a 4 year-old girl and an 8 year-old girl.

Presently FNN has requested information on any fundraisers, drop-off locations and clothes sizes needed for the family. Once that information is provided, it will be posted for those wishing to help the family. At this time FNN is witholding the family's name as requested so other family members can be contacted properly.

Prayers are being requested for the family.

Thanks going out to those who provided information and special thanks to all the volunteers who assisted at the fire scene.
