Port Allegany High School Alumni of the Month - Jenna Martin

Jenna Martin Port Allegany High School Alumni of the Month

Year of Graduation

What have you done since graduating from Port Allegany High School?

Since high school I graduated from Clarion University with my bachelor’s in communications in 2009. Right after graduation I moved back to Port Allegany for about a year where I did some waitress work and marketing locally.

In 2011, I moved to Pittsburgh where I did some freelance public relations and marketing for a while. Around the same time I started working at a children's ministry in inner city Pittsburgh. I started getting involved more in the church I was working at and became more interested in missions opportunities locally and abroad.

In September, 2014 I decided to go on an 11 month mission trip called the World Race where I visited 11 countries in 11 months doing volunteer work with local churches in each country. It was amazing! Once I finished the world race, I really felt led to go back to a country I fell in love with, which is India. I moved to India in June 2016 to work with the organization I did the World Race with. My purpose for moving here is to do women's and children's outreach for at least the next two years. My passion is to see women healed from their hurt and pain and see their true freedom in Christ!

Where do you currently live?

Southern India

Who was your favorite teacher in high school? Why were they your favorite?

That is a tough one, but I'd say Mr. Caskey and Mr. Stavisky.

Mr. Caskey was my homeroom teacher in 9th grade and always made a point from that time until I graduated to make conversation with me and encourage me in what he saw I excelled in.

Mr. Stavisky is equally awesome! He often noticed my abilities in track and would encourage me in sporting events. He took time often to check in with how I was and genuinely cared about the response.

What is your fondest memory of Port Allegany High School?

I think in general I can look back and realize it was such a safe, welcoming place. I knew the teachers cared about my best interest and were always there to encourage and support me.
