Fisherman Finds Missing Pine Creek Boater's Body Near Morris, PA

According to a post on Miller's Store Blackwell's Facebook page, the body of 66 year-old, Larry Peifer was reported found in a pile of flood debris not far from the Pine Creek Bridge in Morris, PA. It was confirmed that on May 11, 2017, a fisherman found Peifer's body on Thursday morning.

Peifer had been missing for five days after the boat he and another individual was in capsized on Sunday, May 7th. The men were boating along Pennsylvania Grand Canyon's Pine Creek Gorge when the accident occurred. Peifer never surfaced after going under the water, the other individual was lucky to make it to the shore, however, that person could not locate Peifer after the accident. That individual made the tough decision to trek out to find help.

It was stated that Peifer probably passed away shortly after falling into the cold water. The strong current is believed to have pulled Peifer down and carried him downriver. where his body became tangle in debris caused by the recent rainfall.

It was noted that the individual with Peifer had to walk several miles to get help.

As FNN reported before, Morris, Wellsboro and other fire crews from other stations assisted with the search over the week. The search for Peifer also included the Pine Creek Outfitters, DNCR Bureaus of Forestry and State Parks, the fish and boat commission, as well as, Peifer's family members and his friends.

FNN was told Larry Peifer stayed at a camp located in Stony Fork and visited Tioga County, often.

Prayers are being requested for the Peifer family and their friends, as well as, for those who assisted in the search.
