Port Allegany Community Clean Up Events

Port Allegany Borough will be hosting a Community Clean Up Day on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 8:00 AM – Noon. Borough residents will have the opportunity to dispose of unwanted items in dumpsters that will be available at the Borough Offices during this time.

There will be a $15 fee for each car or pick-up truck load a resident wants to dispose of, and the fee must be paid by June 21, 2017 or can be added to your next Borough Bill. Paint cans can only be accepted if they are empty, if the paint is dried, or if cat litter is stirred into the paint until dry. Other items that cannot be disposed of include tires, liquids of any kind, barrels (unless both ends are removed), refrigerators, AC units, electronics and hazardous household wastes. To pre-register for this event stop in the Borough Office or call (814) 642-2526. Community Clean Up Day is only open to residents of Port Allegany Borough.

Port Allegany Borough is also partnering with the McKean County Conservation District—Recycling Department and Environmental Coordination Services and Recycling (ECS&R) to offer an Electronics and Household Hazardous Waste Recycling event on August 5, 2017 at the Borough’s Offices in Port Allegany. This event will be held from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the Borough Parking Lot, and will provide residents with the opportunity to dispose of electronics, mercury containing devices, fluorescent bulbs, cleaning chemicals, paint, solvents, and other hazardous household chemicals. ECS&R charges a minimal fee for the collection, transportation, recycling and disposal of these items.

ECS&R will help unload your vehicle, sort and weigh your items, and collect payment the day of the event. Payment can be made with cash, check, money order, or credit card. More information regarding the Electronic and Hazardous Household Waste event will be distributed once details are finalized.

These events help keep our town clean and welcoming and they discourage illegal dumping of these types of wastes by offering an easy, convenient, and low cost way to properly dispose of these products. Recycling electronics waste also helps keep hazardous materials out of the landfill, protecting our environment. The Borough thanks those who participate in these programs throughout the region.
