Benjamin Albert Schierer

Benjamin Albert Schierer, 77, Fountain Valley, CA, passed away from asbestos-acquired Mesothelioma on June 16, 2017, with his wife of 43 years, Jaye L Towne, by his side.

Born Nov. 11, 1939 in Bradford, he was a son of Albert and Wilma Schierer,

Ben graduated Bradford High in 1958. He moved to Southern California in 1973, but returned to his class reunions every 5 years.

After 36 years as an electrician with IBEW Union, Ben retired and turned to Golf. He could be found at David L. Baker, Mile Square, or Willowick courses or 19th hole. He belonged to the Newport Beach Elks Lodge.

A 37-year resident of Fountain Valley, Ben was a fixture of the Greenbrook neighborhood, hosting countless gatherings from Friday night happy hours in the garage to New Year’s Eve or 4th of July blowouts. He participated in all neighborhood events and excursions; renowned for his Chili, Ramos Fizzes and the example he set of how to be a true neighbor and friend.

In addition to his wife Jaye, he is survived by sister Wilma/Peachie Schierer, 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Ben’s humor, ready smile and helpful know-how will be missed by all.

Memorial contributions can be made to honor Benjamin A. Schierer by donating to Cancer Research at the City of Hope (Duarte, CA) or to Southern California Hospice Foundation (Costa Mesa, CA)

Ben’s life will be celebrated on July 9, 2017.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.
