"Cream & Sugar"

Article by Cathy Bowers

Mary Jo Stuckey and Patty Giannotti, co-owners of Cream & Sugar are our guest speakers today. They told us that because of their involvement with the Coudersport Main Street Committee, they found an opportunity to open a shop.

They stated the ideas were never on either one of their radars, however they both felt very strongly that it was something the community needed.

They serve Penn State Creamery Ice Cream, homemade baked goods by Netra Baker, Stockton and Graham artisanal coffee, and have recently added espresso drinks. In addition, they offer a variety of gift items made by local artisans.

Their business has been open for almost a year and business is booming. They also offer gift certificates.

Both Mary Jo and Patty said they are both passionate about Coudersport and can see the potential in the area for tourism. Their shop has a large map on the wall and they ask those who visit to put a colored pin on the map indicating where they are from. Visitors as far away as China have visited their shop. Mary Jo and Patty said they are grateful for the support from the community.

The Coudersport Rotary Club extends its appreciation to Mary Jo and Patty for being our guest speakers, and for taking that first step forward in making their business a big success.

What are the hours to this business?

I live just a short walk from the center of town and with the construction on the road it is certainly far easier to walk than drive. I've stopped by Cream and Sugar a few times and absolutely love the place. Both Mary Jo and Patty have made my visit so relaxing and truly rejuvenating. There is a cozy little nook in the back corner where you can sort of hide away and get work done on your iPad or read and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee or tea or cool off with a latte. It is so peaceful and friendly. If you are uptown you really should stop by just to catch your breath and chill out during a busy day. You won't regret it and probably stay far longer than you ever intended. They even have ice cream!
