First Presbyterian and Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Galeton, 6-4-17

by Martha Pennell,

Galeton Shared Ministry’s annual Traveling Day Camp/Vacation Bible School is planned July 10th-14th, free of charge to all children who have completed kindergarten through eighth grade. Please call Pastor Tom Shatto at 570-367-0041 or email patandtomshatto@pa.net to register.

June 11th worship will be a hymn-sing led by Carol Bartholomew.

In his sermon for Pentecost (Holy Spirit) Sunday, “The power to hear and tell,” Pastor Tom told us the Holy Spirit is from God given to everyone, and is the birth of the church.

It gives us the power to hear the story of Jesus and the power to tell the story of Jesus, who could not be held by death. The Holy Spirit gives us power to get up and go to church and hear the story.

We thirst to hear it again because it is so good!

We get past fear of telling the story of Jesus by the Holy Spirit reminding us it sounds good to all, so there is no worry about reaction or repercussion.

Pastor Tom said something happens to each of us; it is good to adjust our lives to Jesus and to give others opportunity to adjust their lives to him. The Holy Spirit brings power to tell and hear about Jesus.

Do not stop hearing and telling!

From our prayer of the day: Glory be to you, creator Spirit of God. You come like the wind of heaven, unseen, unbidden. You give us a new beginning every day. You warm and comfort us. You give us courage and strength beyond our everyday resources. Be with us in all we say or think or do, today and every day. Amen.
