Free programs and activities are being offered at Hills Creek State Park.

WELLSBORO—Hills Creek State Park at 111 Spillway Road is seven miles northeast of Wellsboro in Charleston Township via Charleston Street and Hills Creek Lake Road. Most programs will be in the park's Nature Center area located in the campground between B and C loop.

Timber Rattlesnakes in Pennsylvania
Through photos, videos and artifacts, the story of Pennsylvania's largest venomous snake and its role in the environment will be told. This free one-hour program will be on Friday, June 9 at 8:30 p.m. in the park's Nature Center.

Canoe Tour 
Explore the wildlife of Hills Creek Lake via canoe while learning about their history and management during a free two-hour canoe tour on Saturday, June 10. Be at the beach area at 5:30 p.m. All equipment will be provided but canoes will be first come, first served. Participants should be physically able to paddle a canoe over flat water for short distances. Those who wish can use their own canoes. Pre-registration is required. To participate, pre-register at the park office in person or call 570-724-4246 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

World of the Beaver 
At 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 in the Nature Center area, learn more about this amazing rodent that inhabits the park’s lake and how important it has been through history.

It's Jungle Out There 
Be at the Nature Center at 830 p.m. Sunday, June 11 for “It’s a Jungle Out There,” a one-hour program that examines the host of freshwater lake and stream residents that can be found in this area, their interactions and water quality needs.

Water Bugs 
Join Liz Constanzo, Conservation District watershed specialist at Campsite #1 on Wednesday, June 14 at 10 a.m. for a free "hands-on" one-hour program about water bugs in campground streams.

Ruffed Grouse in Pennsylvania 
Find out about the challenges facing our state bird. This free one-hour program in the Nature Center area on Friday, June 16 at 8:45 p.m. will include video and mounts and a discussion of controlled burns and the impacts of disease.

Whitetail Deer in Pennsylvania
Park Naturalist Jim Mucci will look at the whitetails life history, management and the challenges of chronic wasting disease, EHD and fawn predation during this free program in the Nature Center area on Sunday, June 18 at 8:30 p.m.
