Think About It!

Pastor B.J. Knefley

Purpose, do you have one? Have you ever thought about it? Why are you on this earth? Did you come into this world with one? Is there a destiny for you to accomplish? How would you even know? Where would you start to find out?

It has been said that without a purpose we wander aimlessly. Much like a ship without a rudder, we go wherever the winds will blow. A man in his 80’s shared recently that when he was a child his mother told him that he would never amount to anything. Guess what kind of purpose that instilled in his soul? The problem is, sometimes our purpose can be defined by what others say about us. Labels, names and even off handed comments can create a direction and purpose for our lives that is never healthy or desirable, but we traverse it anyway because someone’s words have become our reality.

Over the years I’ve thought a lot about purpose and have come to realize that it has much to do with our dreams. Dreams for a future of what we want to do, and to accomplish. Not in the sense of taking a trip or visiting a far away land, but of being happy, fulfilled, and to have a life that has meaning. Purpose has a lot to do with what you were created for. Everyone is created for greatness, but that doesn’t mean that everyone is created to be a king or queen. Greatness is your unique and intricate value and worth. We all have it and it shines forth when we are living out our purpose.

I believe that if you want to see where you’re going then make a map of where you’ve been. It will give you a clear picture of where you are headed. If you don’t like what you see, and it doesn’t relate to what you believe your purpose is, then choose to make some changes to get back on course. Remember, God can enable the unable, but not the unwilling. If you’re up to the challenge, set a course with your purpose in mind. It’s never to late to start again. Think about it.

I look forward to the Think About It! posting every Friday. Today's is one of my favorites "God can enable the unable, but not the unwilling". Far too many wander aimlessly in life with no Purpose (Goals).
