Think About It!!

What If…
Pastor B.J. Knefley

Have you ever pondered the “What if…” scenarios of life? What if I’d taken the other job, what if I’d taken a different career path, what if I’d made a different decision? The list could go on, but I think you get my point. Life can be full of “What if” types of questions, but in reality we can’t go back and change the past, only our future.

Life happens! It’s as simple as that. Some things you have control over, some you don’t. The one thing that you always have control over is yourself. Your choices, your responses and actions and your behavior are all controllable. Not by someone else, but by yourself. Yet people still blame others. Don’t you think it odd that we have come to a place in our society that people are no longer responsible? What would happen if we all took control of our lives and started living with an attitude of change.

Did you know that Jesus said that anyone that would follow after him would have to put their hand to the plow and not look back, (Luke 9:62)? Why? If you’ve ever run a plow you know that it’s important to keep the rows straight. Looking back will cause you to go in a crooked line. I know, I’ve done it plowing with a tractor. I quickly learned to focus on what was a head and I would eventually have straight rows. Life is like that. Look back and you’re bound to mess up going forward. Instead of thinking about “What if…” focus on “I can…”

Zig Ziglar said, “Your attitude, not your aptitude will determine your altitude”. You want to get ahead? Get an attitude adjustment. Remember, every goal without a plan is just a wish. Getting ahead takes planning, perseverance, and determination, without looking back even in the midst of failures. It’s just a part of life. The struggles in life can actually be springboards to future greatness, if you let them. You can stay stuck in your situation; you’ve got to look past the moment and into the future. Struggling with where you are in the moment? Fix your eyes upon the finish line; it’s where the prize is. Think about it.
