At 10 a.m., Saturday morning, July 8, the free Deane Little Beans program "Making Music' featuring Julie Schlosser and Elizabeth Carras, both of Arts For All will be in the lobby at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. Children ages 12 and younger and their families are invited to participate in hands-on musical experiences. Snacks will be provided free.
During the program, Schlosser and Carras will play guitar and invite children to sing songs and move to the music. They will have a selection of percussion instruments for the children to play, such as maracas, jingle bells, sand blocks and a mix of different small drums and will bring materials so young children can make one type of instrument and older children a different one to take home.
Both board-certified music therapists, Schlosser and Carras offer group music classes for youngsters birth to five years old and their families through Arts for All, their Mansfield business. The classes provide developmentally focused experiences for children such as singing, instrument exploration and movement to music, as a way to help each child develop overall skills. In addition, they offer private lessons on guitar, ukulele, piano, and voice and provide contract-based music therapy services to area schools and human service agencies.
