BRADFORD, Pa. – Dorothy Lane will be closed from West Corydon Street to West Washington Street beginning Monday, July 17.

The segment of Dorothy Lane from West Washington Street to the current bridge replacement project – which includes the intersection with Campus Drive -- will tentatively reopen Aug. 14, weather permitting.

From now until Aug. 14, people coming to the main part of campus will need to use the second campus entrance on West Washington Street.

Those traveling to the Richard E. and Ruth McDowell Sport and Fitness Center or Kessel Athletic Complex should get to Campus Drive via Barbour Street or Wagner Avenue.

Pedestrian pathways will remain open during the construction. Although some walkways may be blocked off temporarily, others will be open to allow pedestrians to walk through the area, which includes a portion of the Richard E. McDowell Trail.

The Pitt-Bradford parking lot in front of the Hangar Building will be closed during this time.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is replacing a bridge across the Tunungwant Creek. A detour is in place to direct traffic around the bridge. Throughout the project, vehicles can access campus at the westernmost entrance to campus from West Washington Street.

The PennDOT project will eliminate weight limits for the bridge and remove the structure from the state’s list of structurally deficient bridges.

In addition to replacing the bridge, the project will repave the area, upgrade guiderails, remark paving, widen the road and put in sidewalks.

All work is weather and schedule dependent. The L.C. Whitford Company Inc. of Wellsville, N.Y., is the contractor on the $3 million project. PennDOT expects the bridge to be complete and open to traffic in early November.
