First Presbyterian and Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church of Galeton, 7-16-17

by Martha Pennell,

Women’s monthly Bible study is Wednesday, July 19th, at 3 pm at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church.

Meet at the Galeton School Sunday, July 23rd, at 9:30 am to car pool to the Shared Ministry picnic at Mark and Lisa Smith’s “Upland Farm Lodge.” Meat and drinks will be provided, bring a dish to pass and invite friends to join us!

Galeton Food Pantry opens Friday, July 28th, at 10 am at Saint Paul’s Lutheran church.

That evening from 6 to 10 pm is “Rock the Tarmac” family concert at Collins Park.

“Resurrection Attitude” (Pastor Tom’s sermon) is the Christian’s attitude toward difficulty. When twins Isaac and Esau struggled in Rebeka’s womb she asked God why it was happening.

God explained they had to struggle it out between them because she had two nations within her (Genesis 25: 22-23). Rebeka accepted his answer and got back in the beam to a resurrection attitude.

In Romans the apostle Paul wrote we belong to Jesus if we get on the beam toward a resurrection attitude. If the spirit of God lives within us, as he raised Christ from the dead, we will also be given life (8: 11).

Paul endured many difficulties and prevailed because he was connected to and belonged to Jesus.

God sows the kingdom (Matthew 13: 1-9, Jesus’ parable of the sower) but we need unplugged eyes and ears.

Pastor Tom told us not to let struggles and hardships scorch, soak, or trip us up. By talking to God and having a spiritual connection to Jesus, we are on the beam and we have got resurrection attitude!
